The Marseille Cabinet of Coins and Medals houses a set of 40,000 coins, medals and numismatic objects and covers 2,400 years of Marseille and Provence mint activity since the sixth century BC. until the workshops closed in 1857. This is one of the largest exhibitions in France with classical collections and unique collections from antique Provence. The cabinet houses a conservation workshop for the treatment of monies, and any non-ferrous metal coins, a permanent exhibition and a rich numismatic library available on site offering inexhaustible resources for the study of collections.
