The museum is located in an old building from the XVIII century, when it used to be a tax-taking house. Nowadays, this old building may offer you a huge history exposition, containing libraries, items used in the slaves torture, old furniture, typical rooms (like the senzala, the slaves room) and a high observatory, from where you can see the whole city. And, obviously, there's a section dedicated to the coins, where you can get information about the Brazilian mintage, as well as you can see some coins issues .
